Research Participation Opportunity

Posted 10 months ago by Cameron Duncan

Dear Nevada Advanced Practice Nurses Association members,

The Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) student enrolled in the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is conducting a project to identify if a tool kit containing the description of osteoarthritis (OA), including evidence-based treatment guidelines, increases the knowledge and confidence of Nurse Practitioners in managing and diagnosing OA effectively?

You are invited to participate in this project approved by the UNR IRB. Participation is voluntary and anonymous and involves reviewing a toolkit and taking a survey that will take approximately 10-15 minutes.

Project Title: Improving Osteoarthritis Management in Primary Care

Principal Investigator Name: Dr. Rochelle Walsh

Purpose of the Project:

  1. To increase the Nurse Practitioners' knowledge and confidence level in assessing, diagnosing, and treating OA.
  2. To implement evidence-based clinical practice guidelines to manage OA.
  3. To assess the effectiveness of the toolkit.

There are no reasonably foreseeable risks (e.g. psychological, physical, social, economic, or legal), discomforts, hazards, or inconveniences related to participation in the project other than the time it takes to review the material and submit a survey on its content.

This project does not present any direct benefit to the participants. However, the project provides an opportunity to understand evidence-based OA management. NPs will report an increased understanding of the OA assessment, diagnoses, treatment, patient education, and promotion of non-pharmacological interventions and self-management strategies.

If you volunteer to participate in this project, please review the toolkit and take the survey by clicking on the links below.
